Pips

  1. Noun

Markings in the center area of a numbered playing card that indicate the card's suit and number value.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: While shaped as the suit, pips can also indicate the numeric value of the card because the number of pips matches the card value in any standard deck of playing cards. Example: The twos each have two pips, the threes each have three pips, the fours each have four pips, and so on.

EXAMPLE: "I was sitting far enough from the center of the table that I couldn't always read the numbers on the corners of the cards, so I sometimes had to count the pips to figure out what the community cards were."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

    SYNONYMS: Spot

    RELATED TERMS: Blur Intensity, Index
