Strong; having a very high likelihood of winning on the showdown.
EXAMPLE: "I was dealt pocket Kings. I decided to raise with a monster hand like that even though it was possible that I would scare my opponents away contributing to the pot."
USAGE: Describes a hand.
Huge; containing an unusually large amount of money or chips.
EXAMPLE: "I thought I had a great hand, but I ended up losing a monster pot when my flush was beaten with a full house."
USAGE: Describes a pot.
A player who makes a difficult comeback in a tournament, or a player in the process of making such a comeback; a tournament player who wins a significant amount of chips to have a reasonable chance of winning the tournament after having held a short stack and being considered a longshot to win the tournament.
EXAMPLE: "Its heads-up at the final table, and last year's champion is up against a monster."
