Cut Card

  1. Noun

A special card used to indicate the location in the deck at which the deck should be cut and to cover the bottom card so as to prevent it from being exposed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The cut card is typically a separate device specifically for that purpose rather than a card from the deck, and should be noticably distinct from the playing cards.

EXAMPLE: "I once saw the dealer at a casino start to shuffle the cut card into the deck. It was a bright yellow piece of plastic, so it was kind of funny to see it mixed in with the playing cards."

    APPLIES TO: Land-based Venues

RELATED TERMS: Cut, Expose, Stacked Deck
